The Summer of Woe is officially here. Netflix’s Wednesday has returned with Season 2, bringing back Jenna Ortega’s unforgettable take on Wednesday Addams. Part 1 – the first four episodes – is streaming now, with Part 2 set to arrive on Sept. 3, 2025.
From expanded family drama to eerie new mysteries, Season 2 dives deeper into the Gothic halls of Nevermore Academy – and nothing is quite what it seems.
What Is Wednesday Season 2 About?
Much to Wednesday’s horror (and not the kind she enjoys), her school life and family life collide in chaotic fashion this year.
“This year, we bring the family to Nevermore,” says director and executive producer Tim Burton. “Your family at school is the worst thing possible, isn’t it?”
Her little brother Pugsley Addams (Isaac Ordonez) enrolls at Nevermore, bringing his unpredictable powers of electro kinesis — and a desire to fit in — straight into Wednesday’s world. “He really wants to fit in, and he really wants a friend, but it’s not looking very good,” says Ordonez. Burton adds, “Poor Pugsley, he’s kind of an outcast among outcasts this season… Isaac did a really beautiful job of capturing the pathos of Pugsley.”
The Season 2 Premiere Episode
The first episode, “Here We Woe Again,” is written by co-showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and directed by Tim Burton. Fans got a sneak peek of the first six minutes during Netflix Tudum 2025, revealing what Wednesday gets up to over summer vacation — think creepy dolls, sharp knives, and a very unsettling airport scene.
Expanded Roles for the Addams Family
Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), Gomez (Luis Guzmán), and Pugsley all have bigger roles this season. Even Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) returns in a guest appearance. Expect more of the sharp family banter that fans love – just with a lot more chaos.
Lady Gaga Joins the Cast
In a surprise reveal at Netflix Tudum 2025, Lady Gaga was announced as a guest star in Part 2. She’ll play Rosaline Rotwood, a mysterious and legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday.
Behind the Scenes and Filming Locations
Season 2 was filmed entirely in Ireland, a location chosen for its Gothic atmosphere and cinematic beauty. “It adds a sense of timeless beauty, wonder, and epic spectacle to the world of Wednesday,” say Gough and Millar.
Why Fans Are Hyped
Season 1 broke records with 252 million views and 20 weeks on Netflix’s Global Top 10, thanks to its mix of dark humor, supernatural intrigue, and Ortega’s viral performance. Season 2 promises even more twists, Easter eggs, and unexpected alliances — plus the addition of iconic talent to an already stellar cast.
